MUST HAVE MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE!

Under general supervision, manages Purchasing functions; consults with and advises company personnel on matters pertaining to planning, purchase and acquisition of material, equipment, supplies and services. Works closely with all divisions to reduce costs, improve product quality, improve supplier relations and reduce waste.

Reports to:

Chief Operating Officer

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manages purchasing at corporate location;

· Manages the purchase of production materials at favorable costs consistent with material standards, quality requirements and delivery schedules;

· Selects, trains, develops, and supervises Purchasing personnel;

· Organizes and administers the daily operation of the department;

· Establishes and maintains working relationships with suppliers;

· Evaluates supplier performance based upon company objectives;

· Seeks out new suppliers and determine ways to reduce costs, reduce waste and improve quality;

· Delegates work assignments within the department;

· Works closely with manufacturing, sales, engineering and other departments to support their needs;

· Approves and evaluates purchase requisitions;

· Monitors and evaluates employee performance;

· Approves purchase orders;

· Establishes cost reduction and control measures;

· Reviews and establishes minimum order quantities;

· Administers and reports on the company's small business plan as required;

· Responsible for performing inventory of material at outside vendors;

· Establishes and monitors procedures within the department;

· Evaluates new products and material specifications;

· Participates in annual inventory reconciliation;

· Coordinates and supports global purchasing with other divisions looking for cost saving opportunities;

· Monitors forecast to ensure company goals are being met;

· Works heavily with ERP system to improve tools for users and process improvements;

· Travels to audit and visit key suppliers both domestically and globally;

· Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team members with irregular attendance records will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, and;

· Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:

Experience/Training/Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in business preferred. Minimum of high school graduation with course work, training or certification in purchasing, material planning, blueprint reading, and employee supervision required.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Must be able to communicate effectively with vendors, departmental representatives and all levels of management within and outside the company;

· Thorough knowledge of purchasing principles, practices and procedures;

· Able to read blueprints and accurately interpret material specifications;

· Ability to supervise and direct personnel;

· Ability to select, train, supervise and evaluate section employees;

· Ability to organize, coordinate and schedule work;

· Ability to analyze and resolve purchasing and receiving problems;

· Ability to evaluate products, specifications and material requirements, and;

· Computer skills used for analyzing; proficient knowledge in use of Microsoft Excel and general knowledge of databases.

Physical Requirements:

· Spend long periods of time sitting, working on a computer;

· Most work tasks are performed indoors where temperature is moderate and controlled by office environment systems;

· Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for the majority of the work day; walking and/or standing may be required for the remainder of the work day. Length of time performing these physical requirements may vary from day to day and task to task;

· Requires grasping, writing, sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity;

· Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment as applicable;

· Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 15 lbs.;

· Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined, and;
