JOB DESCRIPTION

A premier structural steel erector is seeking a Junior Estimator with strong attention to detail, initiative, and a desire to grow within the structural steel industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in estimating, preconstruction, and project coordination while working alongside experienced industry leaders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in reviewing project plans, specifications, and bid documents

  • Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel and miscellaneous metals

  • Support senior estimators in developing accurate cost estimates

  • Help determine labor, material, and equipment costs

  • Solicit and review vendor and subcontractor quotes

  • Assist with bid preparation and proposal development

  • Learn to identify project risks, logistics, and scheduling considerations

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and internal estimate reviews

  • Maintain organized records of estimates and historical cost data

  • Collaborate with project managers, detailers, and field teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 0–3 years of experience in construction, estimating, or structural steel (internships acceptable)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (not required)

  • Basic understanding of structural steel or construction principles

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills

  • Exposure to estimating software (Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, or similar) is a plus

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the estimating function

COMPENSATION (Houston, TX Market):

  • Base Salary: $60,000 – $80,000 DOE

  • Health, Dental, 401k
