Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Trust & Estates Attorney with a strong background in estate planning, tax strategy, wealth transfer, and business succession planning. This role focuses on advising mid to high-net-worth individuals and families on advanced estate and tax planning strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and implement sophisticated estate planning documents, including irrevocable trusts and tax-efficient structures
  • Advise clients on income tax, estate tax, transfer tax, and charitable planning strategies
  • Structure and plan for pass-through entities (LLCs and LPs) and business succession matters
  • Counsel fiduciaries on estate and trust administration and settlement
  • Participate in client meetings (in-person and virtual) and maintain strong client relationships

Required Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school (law review experience preferred)
  • Admission to the Illinois Bar
  • Minimum of 4–7 years of experience in trust & estates, tax, or related practice
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, tax, or a related field
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced credentials such as LL.M. (Tax), CPA, CFP, or MBA
  • Financial or accounting background
  • Experience with Smokeball or similar case management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively

Core Competencies

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage electronic and paper records efficiently
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods
