About:

Boutique defense firm with over 100 employees and offices in NJ, DE, and PA. They handle complex civil defense matters and offer collaborative teams, strong mentorship, and meaningful courtroom exposure.

Position Summary:
Seeking an associate who can manage matters independently with minimal supervision. While high-level trial experience is not required, the attorney must be capable of running files, making strategic decisions, managing discovery, and communicating effectively with clients on New Jersey matters.

Key Responsibilities:
- Independently handle civil defense matters in New Jersey from intake through resolution
- Manage discovery, prepare pleadings, draft motions, and coordinate depositions
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and client correspondence
- Develop case strategy and work with partners, experts, and support staff as needed
- Maintain timely communication with clients and meet deadlines
- Track billing, calendaring, and matter management responsibilities

Qualifications:
- J.D. and active admission to the New Jersey bar (required)
- 1–5 years of civil litigation experience (defense experience preferred)
- Proven ability to manage cases independently with minimal supervision
- Strong legal research, writing, and organizational skills
- Professional client-facing skills and timely written communication
- Comfortable handling multiple matters and prioritizing tasks
