Job Title: Agricultural Lender (Ag Lender)

Position Summary:

The Agricultural Lender is responsible for originating, underwriting, and managing a portfolio of agricultural and agri-business loans in accordance with the bank’s credit policies and regulatory guidelines. This individual will play a critical role in developing new business relationships, managing credit risk, and delivering tailored financial solutions to clients in the agricultural sector. The ideal candidate will possess strong credit analysis capabilities, deep knowledge of agricultural operations, and a strategic approach to portfolio management and client development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate and service a portfolio of agricultural loans, including operating lines of credit, equipment financing, real estate loans, and FSA-guaranteed loans
  • Perform credit analysis, including review of financial statements, cash flow, collateral, and risk assessments
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to attract and retain ag lending clients within the bank’s market footprint
  • Maintain compliance with internal credit policies and external regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and manage portfolio performance, identifying emerging risks and proactively managing loan relationships
  • Collaborate with credit analysts, loan operations, and other departments to ensure seamless credit delivery and customer service
  • Actively participate in community and ag-related events to enhance the bank’s visibility and reputation in the agricultural sector

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, finance, business, or related field
  • 3–5 years of agricultural or commercial lending experience
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural production cycles, commodity markets, and rural economics
  • Proven ability to underwrite and structure agricultural credit facilities
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
  • Familiarity with agricultural lending regulations, documentation, and loan servicing procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in farming, ranching, or agri-business
  • Experience with FSA lending programs and government guarantees
  • Knowledge of loan origination and portfolio management software systems
