Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Plant Manager to oversee daily operations at our family owned, lumber/wood products manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, quality-driven, and experienced in managing production teams within the lumber/wood industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure plant safety and compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations
  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards; promote a safety-first culture
  • Lead and enhance quality control systems with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Foster high employee morale and a positive team environment
  • Provide leadership and training to managers and supervisors
  • Control operating costs, labor, overtime, and maintenance expenses
  • Monitor production performance and ensure quality standards are met
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and minimize equipment downtime
  • Maintain and improve plant facilities and equipment
  • Enforce organization, cleanliness, and housekeeping standards

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Wood Products, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of management experience in lumber or forest products manufacturing
  • Experience with surfaced and S4S lumber preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse workforce
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; SAP experience a plus
