Preconstruction Estimator – Commercial Healthcare Construction

A highly-respected General Contractor in the area with a strong pipeline of work is seeking a Preconstruction Estimator to join their growing team. This commercial construction company is looking for a detail-oriented Estimator with 5+ years of experience in preconstruction and estimating, specifically in healthcare construction. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and is capable of managing multiple preconstruction efforts simultaneously.

The Preconstruction Estimator plays a vital role in setting the foundation for successful project delivery—bringing clarity, accuracy, and strategic foresight, particularly in the highly regulated and detailed world of healthcare construction.

Preconstruction Estimator Responsibilities:

  • Prepare conceptual and detailed estimates during all phases of design

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates

  • Collaborate with project managers, owners, architects, and engineers to ensure complete scope coverage

  • Perform quantity take-offs, subcontractor/vendor pricing, and labor/material cost calculations

  • Assist with developing value engineering options and alternative cost scenarios

  • Participate in design meetings, bid reviews, and subcontractor scope reviews

  • Track historical cost data and maintain updated cost databases

  • Support the transition from preconstruction to operations

Preconstruction Estimator Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of preconstruction/estimating experience in commercial construction with a strong emphasis on healthcare projects

  • Proven experience with conceptual estimating and hard bidding in the healthcare sector

  • Understanding of healthcare construction regulations, codes, and facility requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred

  • Proficient with estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, OST, Timberline, or similar)

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and time management skills
