We are a respected and growing organization in the funeral services industry, dedicated to providing compassionate, professional care to families in their time of need. Our team supports multiple funeral homes and cremation service providers across the region, and we are seeking a skilled Accountant / Bookkeeper to join us in supporting our financial operations.


Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting or bookkeeping with specific experience in the funeral home or corporate funeral services industry. This individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain general ledger and oversee daily accounting functions

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Process payroll or coordinate with payroll provider

  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements

  • Prepare financial reports for leadership

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal financial regulations related to funeral services

  • Handle trust fund and pre-need contract accounting, if applicable

  • Support audits and coordinate with external accountants as needed


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping

  • Experience in the funeral home industry or corporate funeral services is strongly preferred

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or industry-specific platforms like SRS, Passare, etc.)

  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
