Quality Control (QC) Manager – Industrial Fabrication

A leading industrial and structural steel fabrication company is hiring a Quality Control (QC) Manager to lead the quality program across all phases of fabrication. This individual will ensure all work is completed in accordance with customer specifications, project requirements, and applicable industry codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the company’s Quality Control Program across all fabrication operations

  • Oversee inspections of incoming materials, in-process welding/fabrication, and final assemblies

  • Ensure compliance with industry codes such as AWS D1.1, ASME, and customer contract requirements

  • Supervise and maintain welding procedures, welder qualifications, and NDE documentation

  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and project management to ensure quality goals are met

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for any non-conformance issues

  • Maintain traceability records, inspection logs, and all required documentation for internal and external review

  • Represent the company during customer and third-party inspections and audits

  • Mentor and supervise the QC team, including inspectors and welders

  • Recommend and implement improvements to the quality management system

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in quality control within the industrial or structural fabrication industry

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) strongly preferred

  • NDT Level II in VT, MT, or PT a plus

  • Familiarity with quality programs for AISC-certified facilities

  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and applicable codes

  • Strong attention to detail, with effective documentation and reporting skills

  • Hands-on working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and fabrication QC tracking systems

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Physical ability to work in a shop and field setting, including climbing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs

  • Some travel may be required for offsite inspections or training
