Steel Detailing Manager – Large-Scale Structural Steel Fabrication

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Structural Steel Detailing Manager to join our team—either in a remote, hybrid, or in-office capacity—to help coach and check our team of Steel Detailers. This is your chance to work with a well-established steel fabricator known for delivering some of the most recognizable structures in the area. As a Structural Steel Detailing Manager, you will oversee the detailing team, ensuring accurate shop and erection drawings, coordinating with engineers and project managers, and maintaining quality and efficiency throughout the detailing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the detailing team to deliver accurate shop and erection drawings on schedule.

  • Review drawings for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to resolve design issues and ensure smooth workflow.

  • Implement and maintain detailing processes, standards, and software tools to maximize efficiency.

  • Monitor project progress, allocate resources, and provide training and mentorship to detailers as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in structural steel detailing
  • Proficiency with detailing software (Tekla Structures, SDS/2, or AutoCAD)
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection practices
  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and time management abilities

Preferred:

  • Experience with BIM coordination or 3D modeling
  • Familiarity with AISC standards

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Remote or Hybrid Work Schedule
  • $70,000 - $85,000 (DOE)
