Legal Assistant - San Diego, CA

A highly regarded law firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to support its San Diego office. This is a key role providing primary support to the Managing Partner and two additional partners on a busy litigation desk. The firm is looking for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage deadlines effectively, and communicate with confidence. This position offers the chance to work on complex business litigation matters while being part of a collaborative, supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide litigation support to three attorneys
  • Draft, prepare, and file pleadings and documents in state and federal courts
  • Maintain case calendars, manage deadlines, and track case milestones
  • Assist with case management, including organization of documents and discovery
  • Format, edit, and finalize legal documents (Word, Adobe Pro; including TOCs & TOAs)
  • Communicate with clients and opposing counsel as needed
  • Coordinate administrative overflow support and resources for the desk

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a litigation legal assistant
  • Experience with business litigation required; healthcare litigation experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal court filings and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, proactive, with strong ownership of deadlines and follow-through
  • Strong technical skills, including iManage (preferred), Adobe Pro, and advanced Word formatting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail
