Senior Associate – Insurance Defense

Location: Chicago, IL
Experience: 5–10 years

Client is a boutique law firm focused on insurance defense, insurance coverage, and appellate litigation throughout Illinois and its surrounding states. They represent insurers and their policyholders in matters involving construction negligence, premises liability, product liability, transportation, and general tort defense.

Their attorneys are trusted for their legal insight, responsive communication, and deep understanding of both defense and coverage litigation.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Senior Associate with 5–10 years of experience in insurance defense to join our Chicago office. This role offers the opportunity to handle complex litigation, contribute to insurance coverage matters, and work directly with clients in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload involving:
• General liability
• Premises and products liability
• Construction litigation
• Transportation liability
• Other tort-related defense matters
• Draft and review insurance coverage opinions, position letters, and declaratory judgment actions
• Participate in litigation strategy, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation
• Communicate regularly with clients, insurers, and claims professionals
• Assist with appellate matters as needed

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice in Illinois
• 5–10 years of insurance defense litigation experience
• Familiarity with insurance coverage matters
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Strong organizational and case management abilities
• Client-focused mindset with a commitment to responsiveness and quality service
