A strong and well-established grain company in northwest Kansas is seeking to add an experienced Grain Merchandiser to their team. This is a collaborative environment where employees play a direct role in shaping trading strategy, customer relationships, and overall success.

Position Overview The Grain Merchandiser is responsible for buying, selling, and optimizing grain inventory to meet market demands while maximizing profitability. The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of experience, preferably with coarse grains such as corn, milo, and wheat, and will be comfortable handling cross-country trading and higher-volume transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase and sell commodities using market knowledge, analysis, and data to drive profitable results.

  • Develop and execute merchandising strategies that align with company goals while effectively managing risk.

  • Monitor and analyze market conditions, competition, and transportation rates to optimize procurement and logistics.

  • Conduct daily hedging activities and prepare accurate position reports.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, providing excellent service and timely support.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of grain merchandising or commodity trading experience required.

  • Strong knowledge of coarse grains and cross-country trading.

  • Understanding of hedging, logistics, and market risk management.

  • Proven ability to analyze markets and make timely, strategic decisions.

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid driver’s license required.
