About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Engineer to join our growing infrastructure and transportation engineering team. This is a leadership role for a professional who brings deep knowledge of MDOT, heavy highway, and bridge construction projects, and who thrives in complex, fast-paced project environments. If you're a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Michigan or Ohio with a proven track record of overseeing and delivering successful road and bridge projects, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as Project Engineer or Assistant Project Engineer on major construction projects throughout Michigan and Ohio.
Oversee the administration of transportation construction projects from pre-construction through final acceptance.
Lead and mentor junior engineers, inspectors, and support staff.
Review and interpret engineering plans and specifications for roadways, bridges, and associated infrastructure.
Ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with MDOT standards and specifications.
Coordinate with contractors, clients, and government agencies to resolve field issues and maintain project momentum.
Develop innovative solutions to construction challenges and facilitate effective problem-solving.
Provide clear, professional communication across multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Promote safety, quality control, and environmental compliance on all project sites.
Qualifications & Experience
Professional Engineer (PE) License in Michigan or Ohio preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience in MDOT or ODOT, heavy highway, or bridge construction.
Demonstrated experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Engineer on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of transportation engineering practices from design through final construction.
Proven leadership in managing projects ranging from local streets to complex urban freeway and bridge structures.
Ability to build and sustain strong partnerships with clients, agencies, and contractors.
Skilled in conflict resolution, professional communication, and on-the-ground problem solving.
Previous experience mentoring junior staff and fostering team development.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
