SENIOR CREDIT MANAGER

Position Summary

A local Community Bank is searching for a professional who is ready to excel in their banking career as a Sr. Credit Manager with room for growth into Chief Credit Officer or Chief Risk Officer potential.

The Senior Credit Manager provides hands-on leadership in credit underwriting, loan review, and portfolio management across the bank’s lending areas. In a community banking environment, this role works closely with loan officers and directly with customers on complex credit requests, ensuring the bank balances prudent risk management with strong community relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, underwrite, and approve commercial, real estate, agricultural, and consumer loan requests within assigned lending authority.
  • Partner with lenders to structure credit facilities that meet customer needs while safeguarding the bank.
  • Serve as the primary resource for credit analysis, coaching lenders and analysts on financial statement review, collateral evaluation, and repayment capacity.
  • Monitor the loan portfolio for credit quality, concentrations, and emerging risks; prepare reports for management and the Board.
  • Lead efforts to identify and manage problem loans, including developing workout or restructure strategies.
  • Actively participate in loan committee discussions and provide recommendations on credit requests.
  • Assist in developing and updating credit policies, procedures, and risk rating systems.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years in commercial credit, lending, or loan review within community banking.
  • Strong knowledge of local markets, agricultural/commercial lending, CRE, C&I, and Commercial Construction, along with regulatory and Risk requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with lenders, customers, and executive management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
