About the Operation:

We are a reputable cattle operation in Texas focused on preconditioning through finishing, managing both natural and conventional cattle. With a strong foundation built on animal health, efficiency, and responsible management, we are looking to bring on a Grow Yard Manager who can take the lead in daily operations and help guide the operation into the future.


Position Summary:

The Grow Yard Manager will oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations in the grow yard. This role requires a seasoned individual with a well-rounded background in cattle handling, animal health, feed management, and employee supervision. The ideal candidate is someone who not only understands cattle but can confidently step in and manage the yard in the owner's absence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all cattle care including receiving, processing, feeding, health monitoring, and shipping.

  • Supervise and work alongside a small team to ensure operational efficiency and animal welfare.

  • Monitor animal health and work closely with veterinary professionals for treatment protocols.

  • Manage feed inventories and rations in coordination with nutritionists.

  • Maintain accurate records of cattle movements, treatments, and performance data.

  • Operate and maintain equipment used in the daily operation of the yard.

  • Collaborate with ownership on budgeting, inventory planning, and operational strategy.

  • Take full responsibility for yard operations when the owner is away.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a grow yard, feedlot, or similar cattle operation.

  • Strong understanding of cattle behavior, health, and nutrition—both natural and conventional systems.

  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

  • Comfortable operating equipment and performing maintenance when needed.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of record-keeping and communication with vendors and partners.

  • Self-starter with the ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required.
