Position Overview

The Director of Maintenance / Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance program of the training fleet. This includes managing aircraft inspections, ensuring FAA compliance, supervising technicians, maintaining records, and coordinating with operations to maximize aircraft availability. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all maintenance activities for a diverse fleet of training aircraft.

  • Ensure full compliance with FAA Part 43 and Part 91 regulations.

  • Supervise A&P technicians and coordinate work with outside vendors and service providers.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logbooks, and digital tracking systems.

  • Monitor parts inventory and manage maintenance budgets.

  • Coordinate aircraft maintenance schedules to support flight operations with minimal downtime.

  • Implement and oversee safety and quality assurance programs.

  • Act as the primary liaison with the FAA during audits and inspections.

  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork within the maintenance department.


Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required; Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in general aviation maintenance; at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Strong working knowledge of piston-engine aircraft, particularly training platforms such as Cessna, Piper, and Diamond.

  • Proficiency with maintenance tracking software and digital logbook systems.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
