Senior Accountant – Banking Industry (CPA Preferred)

Overview
Our client, a well-established community bank, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its finance and accounting team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and understands the unique financial and regulatory nuances of the banking industry.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Assist with call report preparation and other regulatory filings.
Support internal and external audits, including gathering documentation and preparing audit schedules.
Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure proper accounting treatment.
Monitor loan loss reserves, investment portfolio accounting, and fixed asset schedules.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Identify process improvements and assist with implementation of accounting automation or software enhancements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA or CPA candidacy strongly preferred.
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a banking or financial institution environment.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, bank regulatory reporting, and internal controls.
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with banking core systems or general ledger software.
Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
