Structural Steel Fabrication Shop Foreman

A family-owned premier steel fabricator in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead operations in their structural steel fabrication facility. This is a great opportunity to join a company known for top-quality work, long-term stability, and a genuine commitment to its employees.

As the Shop Foreman, you’ll manage daily shop activities, direct fabrication crews, and ensure all projects meet safety, quality, and schedule goals. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who takes pride in craftsmanship, teamwork, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily fabrication shop operations and workflow

  • Supervise, train, and mentor welders, fitters, and shop staff

  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to drawings and specs

  • Maintain safe, organized, and efficient shop practices

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams

  • Monitor productivity, materials, and equipment maintenance

  • Promote a positive, safety-focused, team-oriented culture

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication

  • Prior experience as a Shop Foreman or Superintendant

  • Strong knowledge of welding, fitting, and fabrication processes

  • Ability to read and interpret shop and structural drawings

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement

Preferred

  • Experience managing mid to large-scale steel fabrication projects

  • Familiarity with AISC and AWS standards

Compensation & Benefits

  • $125,000 – $135,000 (DOE)

  • Medical, Dental, 401(k) with 6.5% Match
