Senior Structural Engineer – Transportation

A well-established, employee-owned engineering and consulting organization is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its transportation team. The Opportunity

In this role, you will provide technical leadership on complex transportation structures projects, including bridges and related infrastructure. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams and play an active role in mentoring staff, supporting client relationships, and contributing to business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design for steel, prestressed concrete, and cast-in-place concrete bridges
  • Develop preliminary and final bridge plans
  • Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and project specifications
  • Design ancillary structures such as retaining walls, sign supports, and drainage elements
  • Perform quality control reviews of structural designs and calculations
  • Support proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and budgets
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across disciplines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis)
  • 10+ years of experience in bridge and transportation structures design
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and DOT standards
  • Experience supporting proposals and project planning
