Production Foreman – Truss Manufacturing

Position Summary

The Production Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations in a mid-sized truss production facility. This role provides direct supervision of production crews, ensures safety, quality, and productivity standards are met, and coordinates labor, materials, and equipment to achieve production goals. The Production Foreman reports to the Plant Manager and plays a critical role in meeting customer schedules and controlling manufacturing costs.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

  • Supervise daily truss production activities to meet output, quality, and delivery targets

  • Coordinate labor assignments, job priorities, and workflow across production lines

  • Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing or sequencing as needed to maintain efficiency

  • Ensure proper setup, operation, and care of manufacturing equipment and tooling

  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and quality issues

Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, train, and motivate production employees (typically 15–25+ associates depending on shift)

  • Enforce company policies, work rules, and performance standards

  • Conduct employee coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary actions when necessary

  • Assist with onboarding and training of new employees

  • Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce OSHA, company safety policies, and best practices at all times

  • Conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard assessments

  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of machinery

  • Investigate incidents and near-misses and implement corrective actions

Quality Control

  • Ensure trusses are manufactured to engineering specifications and customer requirements

  • Work closely with Quality Control and Design teams to resolve discrepancies or errors

  • Minimize rework, scrap, and material waste

Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate production status, issues, and labor needs to the Plant Manager

  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Design, and Shipping departments to maintain smooth operations

  • Assist with inventory control and material flow planning

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and cost reduction

  • Recommend process improvements, equipment upgrades, or workflow changes

  • Support lean manufacturing and productivity initiatives where applicable

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–7+ years of experience in manufacturing supervision or lead roles

  • Experience in truss manufacturing, wood products, or related construction manufacturing preferred

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Working knowledge of production scheduling, safety regulations, and quality control

  • Ability to read production schedules, shop drawings, and basic engineering documents

  • Proficient with basic computer systems (production reporting, email, spreadsheets)

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a truss plant or engineered wood products facility

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • OSHA safety training or equivalent manufacturing safety certifications

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

Compensation

  • Salary Range: Approximately $32-$42/hour with potential for higher compensation based on experience, shift responsibility, and performance

  • Eligible for performance bonuses and standard company benefits
