Job Description

A well-established food manufacturing company is seeking a 3rd Shift Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to support and maintain its industrial refrigeration systems. This is a hands-on role for a mechanically inclined professional who values safety, consistency, and working independently during off-shift hours.

 

Hours: 9:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.

Base hourly rate: $35-38/hr., plus shift differential, weekly attendance bonus, potential OT and health benefits and company provided disability, 401K and PTO.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial ammonia refrigeration systems
  • Monitor and record daily refrigeration equipment performance
  • Inspect freezer and cooler evaporators; address issues such as fans, ice buildup, and condensate drains
  • Adjust compressor pressures and temperatures as needed
  • Monitor ammonia levels in accumulators and high-pressure vessels
  • Follow all lockout/tagout, safety, and food safety protocols
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Required Qualifications

  • Ammonia Refrigeration Certification
  • 1+ year of industrial maintenance experience
  • Welding experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience using hand and power tools; ability to read blueprints and drawings
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and around moving equipment
  • Ability to work extended hours, including overtime, as required
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Refrigeration or maintenance experience in a USDA-inspected meat or food processing facility
  • Recent, consistent work history
