Beverage Alcohol & Hospitality Attorney:
Practice Focus: Beverage Alcohol, Hospitality, Regulatory Compliance
A boutique Chicago-based law practice is seeking an Associate Attorney with at least 2 years of experience to join a growing regulatory and hospitality-focused practice. This role offers early responsibility, meaningful client interaction, and the opportunity to help grow a highly specialized practice within a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
Must Have Previous Experience in One/All Practice Areas Listed Below:
- Beverage Alcohol & Hospitality Law
- State and local licensing for bars, restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, convenience stores, and related businesses
- Federal alcohol matters, including TTB licensing, formula approvals, and label (COLA) approvals
- Alcohol regulatory trade practice compliance, including reviewing statutes and regulations against client marketing and programming to assess compliance risk
- Emerging & Adjacent Areas
- Gaming law (a developing and growing practice area)
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage state, local, and federal license applications
- Conduct regulatory research and compliance analysis
- Review and analyze statutes, regulations, and agency guidance
- Draft and review contracts and distribution agreements
- Assist with distributor terminations and regulatory disputes
- Participate in administrative hearings and civil litigation matters
- Support light transactional work, including M&A-related regulatory diligence
Ideal Skills & Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Prior experience in one/all of the previously listed practice areas:
- Active Illinois bar license (or ability to waive in)
- Comfortable taking ownership of matters and communicating confidently with clients
- Litigation or administrative hearing experience is a strong plus
- Enjoys social environments, conferences, and networking (relationship-driven industry)
- Excited by new challenges and not easily intimidated by complex regulatory issues
