Location: Downtown Chicago, IL (Hybrid after training) Experience: 3+ years

The Role

We are seeking a motivated Trust & Estates Attorney with a sophisticated understanding of complex tax and estate planning. This role is for a high performer who excels at the intersection of law and finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sophisticated Planning: Execute complex estate, tax, wealth, and business succession planning.
  • Drafting: Prepare high-level estate planning documents, including irrevocable trusts and pass-through entity structures (LLCs/LPs).
  • Fiduciary Counseling: Advise fiduciaries on estate and trust settlement and administration.
  • Client Engagement: Participate in both in-person and virtual client meetings, maintaining high-level relationships.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or Tax; JD required.
  • Bar Admission: Must be admitted to the Illinois Bar.
  • Experience: 3+ years of relevant law firm experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Excel and Word; experience with SmokeBall is a plus.
  • Quantitative Affinity: A strong background in statistics, math, accounting, or finance is critical for the complex analysis our clients require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LL.M. in Tax, CPA, CFP, or MBA.
  • Law Review experience or published work.
  • We value candidates with backgrounds in team sports, military, or leadership roles or those who have worked in high-pressure service environments.
