GPAC is working with a well-established national food manufacturer in upstate New York, Oneida County, that is seeking an Industrial Refrigeration Technician specialized in Ammonia Systems. They will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing large-scale cooling equipment that uses ammonia as a refrigerant. This high-safety role involves managing complex compressors, evaporators, and pumps.
Responsibilities:
- Repair all equipment to performance standards
- Keep all equipment in good working order
- Document the preventative maintenance schedule and work orders
- Maintain the facility in a safe manner
- Ensure maintenance areas are clean, sanitary, and well organized
- Report to work on time in clean, complete uniform (maintain good personal hygiene)
- Ensure that all team members do the same
- Always follow safety guidelines and procedures
- Strictly adhere to all company policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), personal safety, and food safety standards
- Order and install parts, read, and understand mechanical parts drawings
- Maintaining and operating Industrial Refrigeration systems
- Conducting daily rounds to observe and record temperatures and humidity levels, and making minor adjustments
- Working from requests to repair and perform predictive and preventive maintenance procedures on ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems including, but not limited to compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, glycol systems, various industrial utility systems, motors, and power distribution systems
- Handling or training of entry level refrigeration technicians including, but not limited to day-to-day operations, inspections and inspection techniques, basic repairs and repair techniques, and conformance to all state, local, and Company regulations and policies
- Participating in improvement activities that include improving the process, improving the work, and making recommendations for enhancing the systems by prioritizing work and minimizing down time to production and refrigeration systems
- Effectively support the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program with a goal of continually reducing unscheduled downtime
- Complete all assigned work orders within the time allotted
- Maintain and repair all plant equipment with minimal instruction
