Controls Manager – Industrial Manufacturing

Hiring a Controls Manager to lead the controls engineering team supporting custom equipment and packaged systems. This role will oversee controls design, programming, testing, commissioning, and department operations while driving performance, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Controls Engineering department including design, programming, testing, and startup support
  • Oversee control panel development, PLC programming, and system integration for custom industrial equipment
  • Support project execution by assigning resources, monitoring schedules, and ensuring projects stay on track
  • Work closely with engineering, production, purchasing, and leadership teams to support manufacturing operations
  • Drive continuous improvement, safety, quality, and process standardization initiatives
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for controls systems and field startups
  • Manage department performance, employee development, and training initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, industry standards, and company procedures
  • Support estimating, applications, and customer technical requirements as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience leading controls engineering teams in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Strong PLC programming and controls troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring, control panels, automation systems, and UL standards
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, GE, IDEC, Johnson Controls, Carrier, or similar systems preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and production schedules
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred
