Our client, an established civil litigation firm, is looking for a driven and accomplished Insurance Defense Attorney to join their growing office in Toledo, Ohio.
In this role, you will take on a diverse portfolio of cases representing insurance carriers and their insureds. This full-time, in-office position is designed for an agile litigator who enjoys a collaborative team setting and is eager to protect client interests across general liability, personal injury, first-party, and third-party claims.
Oversee insurance defense lawsuits from the initial intake through trial preparation, ensuring a strategic approach to every file.
Formulate legal arguments and draft high-quality pleadings, substantive motions, briefs, and discovery responses in accordance with Ohio civil rules.
Take and defend depositions of key parties, witnesses, and experts, and confidently represent clients during court appearances and oral arguments.
Provide insurance adjusters and corporate stakeholders with clear, timely status updates, liability assessments, and risk evaluations.
Navigate alternative dispute resolution channels effectively, advocating for clients during mediations and arbitration sessions.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution and active, good-standing credentials with the Ohio State Bar.
2+ years of courtroom and civil litigation experience, with a distinct background handling insurance defense or bodily injury matters.
Familiarity with the local court systems in Toledo and Northwest Ohio (such as the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas).
Exceptional analytical abilities, sharp legal writing skills, and a strong work ethic tailored to meeting billable targets.
