The Opportunity

A highly regarded national law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigator to join its Vancouver office.

This opportunity is ideal for an entrepreneurial lawyer with an established portable book of business who is looking to grow their practice on a collaborative national platform. The firm combines the resources and reach of a full-service national practice with the agility, accessibility, and collegial culture of an entrepreneurial office.

The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the firm's commercial litigation practice in British Columbia while benefiting from cross-office collaboration, strong operational support, and multiple partnership pathways.

Practice Focus

The successful candidate will advise clients on a broad range of business disputes, including:

  • Commercial litigation
  • Contract disputes
  • Shareholder and partnership disputes
  • Construction litigation
  • Commercial collections and credit enforcement
  • Professional negligence
  • Business torts and other complex commercial matters

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and continue growing an established commercial litigation practice
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Handle litigation matters from inception through trial or negotiated resolution
  • Appear before the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Court of Appeal, arbitrations, mediations, and judicial settlement conferences
  • Mentor junior lawyers and collaborate across practice groups
  • Participate in business development and community engagement initiatives
  • Work with colleagues across the firm's national platform to provide comprehensive legal solutions

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of commercial litigation experience
  • Established portable book of business required
  • Strong advocacy, negotiation, and legal writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage sophisticated litigation matters
  • Proven business development and client relationship management experience
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build and grow a practice
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia

Compensation

The firm offers flexible compensation structures designed to support experienced lawyers at different stages of practice, including Of Counsel, Non-Equity Partner, and Equity Partner opportunities.

Compensation is structured to reward production, origination, and long-term business development, with flexible draw and partnership models available. Details will be discussed confidentially with qualified candidates.
