Vice President of Purchasing & Estimating | Confidential Homebuilder | DC Metro

A well-established homebuilder in the Washington, DC metro area is hiring a Vice President of Purchasing & Estimating to lead all procurement, estimating, vendor strategy, and product cost management.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving profitability, improving cost control, and ensuring the company remains competitive through strong trade partnerships and smart product decisions.

The VP will work directly with executive leadership to align purchasing strategy with overall business goals while leading a team focused on estimating accuracy, purchasing efficiency, and vendor performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all purchasing, estimating, and cost strategy for residential construction operations
  • Improve margins through better pricing, vendor management, and cost control
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners and suppliers
  • Lead contract negotiations and strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Partner with leadership on product design, specs, and cost optimization
  • Oversee and develop the purchasing & estimating team
  • Drive consistency, accountability, and process improvement

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years in homebuilding purchasing, estimating, or procurement leadership
  • Strong track record of cost savings, margin improvement, and vendor management
  • Experience with ERP/purchasing systems such as NEWSTAR, MarkSystems, Hyphen, or similar
  • Background in residential construction (builder or developer environment)
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to influence across departments
  • Strategic thinker who can also execute in a fast-paced environment

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $200,000 – $275,000 (DOE)
  • Total compensation potential up to $375,000 with bonus
  • Full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, HSA
