Associate Attorney – Civil Litigation (3–8 Years)

Location: Hartford, CT (Hybrid)Salary: $105,000–$130,000 + Comprehensive Benefits

A highly respected regional law firm is seeking a Civil Litigation Associate Attorney with 3–8 years of litigation experience to join its Hartford, Connecticut office. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney looking to gain meaningful courtroom experience, manage a diverse caseload, and work alongside experienced litigators in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

This role offers a hybrid work schedule, hands-on responsibility, and the opportunity to handle sophisticated litigation matters while receiving mentorship from seasoned attorneys.

The successful candidate will work on a broad range of civil litigation matters, including:

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a civil litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare case analyses and memoranda.
  • Handle written discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions.
  • Develop litigation strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and the courts.
  • Prepare status reports and provide exceptional client service throughout the litigation process.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active Connecticut Bar admission or eligibility for admission through the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE).
  • 3–8 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or a related litigation practice.
  • Experience drafting pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple cases while working collaboratively within a team.
  • Prior judicial clerkship experience is a plus but not required.
