Associate Attorney – Civil Litigation & Insurance Defense (1–5 Years)

Location: Bridgeport, CT (On-Site)Salary: $105,000–$130,000 + Comprehensive Benefits

A well-established and highly respected regional law firm is seeking a Civil Litigation Associate Attorney with 1–5 years of litigation experience to join its Bridgeport, Connecticut office. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney looking to build courtroom experience, manage meaningful cases, and develop professionally within a collaborative and supportive litigation practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience in civil litigation or insurance defense and be eager to take on increasing responsibility while working alongside experienced trial attorneys.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a civil litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda.
  • Handle written discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Develop litigation strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and the courts.
  • Prepare status reports and maintain exceptional client service throughout each matter.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active Connecticut Bar admission or eligibility for admission through the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE).
  • 1–5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or a related practice area.
  • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Judicial clerkship experience is a plus but not required.
