Civil Litigation / Insurance Defense Associate Attorney

We are seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join our growing litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys handling sophisticated litigation matters, working directly with clients, and gaining meaningful courtroom experience in a collaborative environment.

Our practice represents businesses, insurers, and individuals in a broad range of civil litigation and insurance defense matters. We value attorneys who take ownership of their cases, communicate effectively, and are committed to delivering exceptional legal services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of civil litigation and insurance defense matters from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct written discovery and take and defend depositions.
  • Attend hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and other court proceedings.
  • Develop litigation strategy while working closely with clients and fellow attorneys.
  • Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial proceedings when opportunities arise.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active Illinois Bar admission.
  • 3 years of direct civil litigation experience.
  • Insurance defense experience is strongly preferred.
  • Trial experience is a plus.
  • Strong research, writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple matters while working effectively within a team environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $120,000 - $160,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Details

  • 100% on-site position
  • 1,900 annual billable hour requirement
