Job Snapshot

Job Description

Confidential Opportunity | Mid-Level Business Litigation Associate

Remote | Anywhere in California

Sophisticated litigation. National clients. Remote flexibility.

A highly respected boutique litigation firm is seeking a California-licensed Business Litigation Associate (3–7 years of experience) to join its growing Financial Services Litigation practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney who enjoys complex litigation and wants to work on sophisticated matters for nationally recognized financial institutions—all while benefiting from a flexible, primarily remote work environment.

For more than 20 years, this boutique firm has earned a reputation for handling high-stakes litigation on behalf of premier institutional clients. The firm's attorneys include alumni of top national law firms such as Gibson Dunn, Latham & Watkins, Sidley Austin, and other prestigious practices, creating a collaborative environment that emphasizes mentorship, excellence, and meaningful responsibility.

About the Practice

This team focuses on complex business and financial services litigation, representing banks, mortgage lenders, credit card companies, and other financial institutions in a broad range of disputes, including:

  • Consumer lending litigation
  • Retail and online banking disputes
  • Mortgage lending matters
  • Credit card litigation
  • Individual consumer claims in both State and Federal Court
  • Class action defense throughout California and more than a dozen other jurisdictions

This is not a high-volume practice. Cases are staffed leanly, providing associates with significant responsibility, direct client interaction, and hands-on litigation experience from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Manage sophisticated business and financial services litigation matters
  • Draft and argue substantive motions
  • Conduct depositions and manage discovery
  • Defend consumer claims in state and federal courts
  • Assist with class action defense across multiple jurisdictions
  • Participate in arbitrations, bench trials, and approximately one jury trial each year
  • Work directly with experienced litigators representing nationally recognized financial institutions

What We're Looking For

  • Active California Bar license
  • 3–7 years of civil or business litigation experience
  • Experience handling complex litigation matters
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Self-motivated attorney who thrives in a collaborative, remote environment

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Remote position for attorneys located anywhere in California
  • Los Angeles-based firm with a highly flexible remote culture
  • Opportunity to litigate sophisticated cases for nationally recognized financial institutions
  • Lean staffing model that provides meaningful courtroom experience and accelerated professional growth
  • Collegial culture with attorneys from premier national law firm backgrounds
  • Long-term career development with direct mentorship from accomplished litigators

Compensation & Benefits

  • $175,000–$220,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • 1800 annual billable hour expectation
  • Discretionary year-end bonus based on billable hours, case management responsibilities, and overall profitability

While this firm does not mirror the compensation structure of BigLaw, it offers many of the same sophisticated clients and complex legal work in a more collaborative, entrepreneurial, and flexible environment. It's an outstanding fit for litigators who want to build an impressive practice without sacrificing autonomy or work-life balance.
