Civil Litigation / Insurance Defense Attorney

Chicago, IL | $120,000–$170,000+

We are a Chicago litigation firm seeking an attorney with at least 3+ years of civil litigation experience to join our practice.

This is a hands-on litigation role. Our attorneys are directly involved in their cases, work closely with clients, take depositions, appear in court, develop case strategy, and prepare matters for trial. We are looking for someone who wants meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to continue developing as a well-rounded litigator.

Our practice includes a broad range of civil litigation and insurance defense matters, giving attorneys exposure to sophisticated cases rather than being limited to one narrow type of defense work.

What You'll Handle

• Manage civil litigation and insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
• Draft and argue motions and other substantive pleadings
• Handle written discovery and take and defend depositions
• Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
• Work directly with clients and insurance carriers
• Evaluate liability, damages, and overall case strategy
• Prepare cases for trial and participate in trials
• Work directly with experienced trial attorneys on complex matters

What We're Looking For

• At least 3+ years of civil litigation experience
• Illinois Bar admission
• Experience with insurance defense, personal injury defense, general liability, or related civil litigation
• Deposition and courtroom experience
• Strong legal writing and case-management skills
• Ability to independently handle day-to-day responsibility for an active caseload
• Trial experience is welcomed but not required

Compensation & Position Details

• Base salary: $120,000–$160,000+, depending on experience
• Approximately 1,900 annual billable hours
• Full-time position
• Chicago office
• Opportunity for substantive case responsibility and continued trial experience
