Greater Bethlehem, PA Area | Public Accounting | Tax Advisory & Leadership
An established public accounting firm in the Greater Bethlehem area is seeking an experienced Tax Senior Manager, Principal, or Partner-track professional to join its leadership team.
This is more than another senior-level tax role. The firm is looking for a technically sophisticated tax professional and trusted advisor who wants to play a significant role in the future of the practice. The opportunity offers a short-term path to equity partnership/ownership as the current owner gradually steps back from day-to-day responsibilities and ultimately transitions toward retirement.
The ideal candidate will have the technical depth to independently handle complex tax matters while possessing the communication skills and business judgment to advise sophisticated individuals and business owners.
Serve as a senior technical resource on complex individual and business tax matters
Review and provide final-level oversight of large and complex tax returns
Work directly with business owners, executives, high-net-worth individuals, and other sophisticated clients
Translate complicated tax matters into clear, practical recommendations
Provide proactive tax planning, consulting, and risk advisory services
Identify tax exposures, risks, planning opportunities, and strategic considerations
Lead client meetings and confidently provide thoughtful advice and recommendations in real time
Research complex tax matters and develop well-supported positions with minimal oversight
Draft technical correspondence, advisory communications, and client letters involving complex tax matters
Provide leadership and technical guidance to other professionals within the firm
Build deep, long-term client relationships and become a trusted advisor to key clients
Work closely with firm ownership as part of a planned leadership and client transition
Participate in the long-term strategic direction of the practice
Significant progressive experience in public accounting and taxation
CPA strongly preferred
Senior Manager, Principal, Director, or similar leadership-level experience preferred
Strong technical knowledge of federal and multi-state taxation affecting individuals, closely held businesses, and business owners
Ability to independently review and sign off on large, technically complex tax returns
Strong tax research, technical writing, and advisory capabilities
Ability to make sound professional judgments with little to no oversight
Exceptional client-facing and communication skills
Ability to sit across the table from a sophisticated business owner, understand complex issues, and provide clear, credible, and actionable advice
Strong understanding of tax risk and the ability to help clients evaluate potential exposure and appropriate courses of action
Leadership mentality with an interest in taking on increasing responsibility for clients, staff, and firm operations
This opportunity is particularly well suited for someone who has reached the Senior Manager, Principal, or Director level and is asking, "What's next?"
Rather than waiting indefinitely for a partnership opportunity, this position offers a defined, short-term path toward equity ownership for the right individual.
The current owner is looking for a highly capable tax professional who can gradually assume greater responsibility for complex client relationships, technical decision-making, and leadership of the practice. The long-term goal is to identify someone who has both the ability and desire to become an equity partner/owner as part of the firm's succession plan.
Short equity partnership/ownership track
Established client relationships and existing book of business
Direct involvement in the firm's succession plan
Highly consultative and advisory-focused role
Significant autonomy and decision-making authority
Opportunity to work directly with sophisticated business owners and individuals
Ability to influence the future direction of the practice
Long-term career opportunity beyond the typical Senior Manager role
If you're an experienced tax professional who enjoys solving complex problems, advising business owners, and wants the opportunity to build equity rather than simply hold another management title, this could be an excellent next step.
