Accounting Manager (Law Firm)

A successful Denver plaintiff law firm is seeking an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of its day-to-day financial operations.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands the financial mechanics of a contingency-fee practice—including case costs, settlement proceeds, trust accounting, partner distributions, and case-level reporting. The position reports to the Director of Operations and does not have direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger accounting, accounts payable, reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Track case costs, client advances, settlement receivables, trust-account liabilities, and lines of credit
  • Prepare monthly and year-end reports, budgets, forecasts, and partner distributions
  • Process ACH and wire payments while maintaining strong financial controls
  • Oversee payroll, 401(k) administration, employee benefits, vendor compliance, and annual 1099 reporting
  • Partner with attorneys and paralegals on case-expense reporting and audits
  • Support Filevine administration, including billing, new-case setup, and issue resolution
  • Improve accounting processes, policies, documentation, and risk controls

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting experience within a law firm (preferably plaintiff)
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online or Desktop
  • Experience managing multiple bank accounts, credit cards, and lines of credit
  • Understanding of law-firm trust accounting and case-cost management
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Filevine experience is preferred
  • Accounting degree or equivalent professional experience

The Opportunity

This role offers meaningful responsibility within an established, collegial firm. The successful candidate will be trusted to maintain accurate financial operations, identify potential issues, and improve the systems supporting the firm.

The position is based in the Denver Tech Center and requires working in the office Monday through Friday. Benefits include group health insurance, a 401(k), paid time off, and flexible hours.
