Position Overview A premier, family-owned specialty-food manufacturer with over 35 years of industry leadership is seeking a hands-on Night Shift Maintenance Supervisor for its modern production facility in Northern New Jersey
This is a true working-supervisor role designed for a maintenance leader who wants real shift authority without being trapped behind a desk. You will lead, coach, and deploy the shift technician crew while stepping in alongside them to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems when production needs support.
Key Responsibilities
- Shift Leadership: Direct daily workflow, assign tasks, conduct shift huddles, coach technicians, and manage end-of-shift reporting and handoffs.
- Hands-on Response: Act as first responder for major line breakdowns across freezers, cooking systems, fillers, portioners, packaging, X-ray, metal detectors, and robotics (ABB/Fanuc).
- PM & RCA Discipline: Drive preventive maintenance execution, execute root-cause analysis (RCA) to eliminate repeat downtime, and maintain strict CMMS records.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce LOTO, OSHA, food safety, GMP, and sanitation protocols across the shift while managing contractor safety on site.
- Resource Management: Communicate critical spare-parts needs, supervise contractor projects, and ensure efficient resource allocation during production runs.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience leading maintenance technicians in an industrial manufacturing facility (food, beverage, or high-speed automated packaging environment strongly preferred).
- Technical Expertise: Strong cross-functional troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems.
- Equipment Familiarity: Hands-on exposure to high-speed packaging, processing/cooking equipment, freezers, and industrial robotics.
- Leadership Style: A visible, floor-focused leader capable of prioritizing multiple urgent requests during production shifts.
- Schedule Availability: Able to work the regular 4:00 PM – 1:30 AM shift, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend coverage as plant needs dictate.
