A well-established law firm in Downtown Seattle  is seeking an experienced Estate Planning & Business Attorney to join its sophisticated Trusts & Estates practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with advanced estate planning and tax experience who enjoys working with high-net-worth individuals, families, business owners, and fiduciaries.

The ideal candidate will have an LL.M. in Taxation or comparable tax experience and a strong background in sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, business succession planning, and trust and estate administration.

The Opportunity

  • Design and implement sophisticated estate planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Draft complex estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts
  • Advise closely held business owners on business succession, wealth transfer, and tax-efficient planning strategies.
  • Counsel clients, families, private foundations, fiduciaries, and other professional advisors on complex estate and tax matters.
  • Advise clients on federal and state income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters.
  • Assist with estate and trust administration and coordinate with outside CPAs and other professional advisors.
  • Opportunity to develop and grow a portable book of business.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership and good standing with the Washington state bar.
  • 5+ years of sophisticated estate planning and tax-oriented experience preferred.
  • LL.M. in Taxation strongly preferred; comparable tax experience, including CPA experience, will be considered.
  • Advanced knowledge of estate planning techniques, trust and estate administration, and federal and state tax law.
  • Experience advising closely held business owners and business succession planning preferred.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to apply complex tax concepts to sophisticated client situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a substantial and varied caseload.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $150,000–$185,000 base salary, depending on experience
