Nursery and Greenhouse General Manager Trainee

GPAC has partnered with a nationally recognized horticulture company seeking motivated, career-minded individuals who are passionate about plants and interested in building a long-term career within the nursery and greenhouse industry.

We are currently seeking General Manager Trainees to join the company’s nursery and horticulture operations. This is an exceptional opportunity for driven individuals who want to gain comprehensive, hands-on experience across all aspects of the business while developing the skills necessary to advance into a leadership role.

Candidates will be considered nationwide and must be willing to relocate.

As part of the General Manager Training Program, you will gain experience at multiple locations throughout the country, working alongside experienced industry professionals and learning the operational, financial, sales, production, and leadership aspects of successfully managing a nursery and horticulture operation.

The goal of the program is to prepare high-potential individuals for a leadership position within the organization. Upon successful completion of the training program, you will have the opportunity to take on the responsibility of managing one of the company’s numerous locations across the United States.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is ambitious, hands-on, eager to learn, and looking for a clear path toward long-term career growth and leadership within the horticulture industry.

 Key Qualifications General Manager Trainee:

  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or a related field preferred.
  • 4+ years’ experience ideally focused on one or more areas: Production Management, Greenhouse Operations, Nursery Supervisor or Management, or Nursery Sales.
  • Career-minded with a strong desire to grow into a General Manager position.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn all aspects of nursery operations.
  • Willing to work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Some outdoor locations are subject to extreme hot and cold temperatures, and wet or humid conditions.
  • Must be willing to travel and relocate during training and for future General Management opportunities.
  • Must currently reside in the U.S. and have a valid U.S. driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train in all areas of nursery and horticulture operations, including production, inventory, customer service, staff supervision, and hiring and developing sales teams.
  • Learn best practices in plant health, irrigation, fertilization, pest management, and quality control.
  • Assist with scheduling, team leadership, and operational planning.
  • Develop the skills necessary to manage a successful nursery and horticulture location.
