Job Description

A leading national heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join their team in Miami, FL.

This position involves primarily local field service and repairs, with additional shop work as needed  -  All projects are local, so you're home every night.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing heavy construction equipment, both in the field and in the shop, to keep the company's fleet operating safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment

• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to identify potential equipment issues before they cause downtime

• Troubleshoot equipment problems using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment

• Repair, replace, or rebuild components as needed

• Perform field repairs and maintenance on local construction jobsites

• Work closely with equipment operators, field personnel, and management to minimize equipment downtime

• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records

• Maintain tools, service vehicles, and work areas in a clean and organized condition

• Follow company safety procedures and equipment manufacturer guidelines

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment

• Strong hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diesel engines, with the ability to identify complex equipment problems and determine the appropriate repair

• Experience working on equipment such as excavators, loaders, cranes, dozers, foundation drill rigs, pile driving, and other specialty construction equipment

• Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics

• Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment and diagnostic software

• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus

• Ability to work independently and make sound repair decisions in the field
