Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee steel projects from contract award through fabrication, delivery, and installation. The Project Manager will serve as a primary point of contact for customers, general contractors, architects, engineers, detailers, shop personnel, and field installation teams.
This position requires a strong understanding of miscellaneous and/or light structural steel construction, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining schedules, budgets, quality, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects from award through final completion and closeout.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and project stakeholders.
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with estimating, detailing, engineering, procurement, fabrication, quality control, transportation, and installation teams.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, material requirements, and production milestones.
- Review and coordinate shop drawings, models, RFIs, submittals, and revisions.
- Work closely with the detailing and engineering teams to resolve design and constructability issues.
- Coordinate material procurement and ensure materials are available when needed for fabrication.
- Communicate project requirements and priorities to shop and field personnel.
- Monitor fabrication progress and ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Coordinate delivery and field installation activities.
- Address project changes, delays, conflicts, and customer concerns in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project costs and identify potential issues before they impact profitability or schedule.
- Participate in project meetings with general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Support successful project closeout, including punch lists and final documentation.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of project management experience in structural steel, miscellaneous metals, steel fabrication, construction, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and construction processes.
- Experience working with shop drawings, structural drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Ability to interpret plans and specifications and identify potential project issues.
- Strong knowledge of project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, fabrication, and installation.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Experience with miscellaneous steel, stairs, railings, canopies, mechanical framing, or light structural steel is highly preferred.
