Job Description

JOURNEYMAN MANUAL MACHINIST

JOB POSTING:

If you are a true manual machinist who can take a print, worn part, or repair project and determine how to machine it correctly from start to finish, this is the kind of work where your experience matters.

This is not a production operator position. We are looking for an experienced Journeyman-level Manual Machinist who is comfortable with one-off parts, repair work, large components, and jobs that require real machining judgment.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate manual engine lathes, mills, boring equipment, and other conventional machine tools.
  • Machine new and repair components from prints, sketches, samples, or existing worn parts.
  • Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, tapping, milling, and related machining operations.
  • Select tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds based on the material and job.
  • Hold close tolerances and verify work using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Work with shafts, housings, gears, sleeves, bushings, and other industrial components.
  • Troubleshoot unusual setups and determine the best way to machine or repair a part safely and accurately.

What We're Looking For

  • Journeyman-level manual machining experience.
  • Strong experience on manual lathes and conventional machine tools.
  • Ability to independently set up your own jobs.
  • Strong blueprint-reading and precision-measurement skills.
  • Experience with repair machining, one-off parts, or reverse-engineered components is highly valued.
  • Comfortable machining larger or irregular parts.
  • Must understand tooling, tolerances, feeds, speeds, and workholding.

This is not a fit for someone whose experience is limited to CNC operation or loading parts into an established production setup.

Why Join Us

Work in an established precision-machining environment where experienced tradespeople are valued for what they know. The work offers variety, challenging repair and one-off projects.
