Bridge / Structural Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Bridge / Structural Engineer to join our growing Transportation Design team. This is an opportunity to work on a variety of bridge and transportation projects while collaborating with talented engineers, designers, and technical professionals.

What You’ll Do

• Design and support highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, and transportation structures.

• Perform structural design calculations, investigative analysis, and finite element analysis.

• Perform bridge load-rating analyses and prepare load-rating reports.

• Participate in routine and complex bridge inspections.

• Prepare and review engineering reports, plans, specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates.

• Collect and analyze engineering data and assist with quantities and estimates.

• Coordinate with engineers, designers, CADD staff, clients, review agencies, and other project stakeholders.

• Help solve complex design and coordination challenges throughout the project lifecycle.

• Support projects from preliminary design through final plans and technical documentation.

• Manage multiple assignments while maintaining quality, accuracy, and deadlines.

• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and problem-solving.

What You Bring

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering; structural emphasis preferred.

• Tennessee Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• 4+ years of relevant bridge/structural engineering experience preferred.

• Experience with LEAP Bridge.

• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, AASHTO guidelines, construction specifications, plans, and regulations.

• Experience developing or modifying MathCAD programs.

• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for the company’s fleet insurance program.

• Dependability and ability to meet project deadlines.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Bridge inspection experience or certification.

• Experience with complex bridge structures, finite element analysis, seismic analysis, and structural modeling.

• Experience with Midas, CSiBridge, or similar finite element software and experience with MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and Microsoft Office.

• Experience working with transportation agencies and project review organizations.
