A well-established, mid-sized local commercial general contractor is looking to add an experienced Construction Controller to their team. This is a key accounting/finance leadership role for someone who understands the construction industry, knows how to navigate the financial side of projects, and can take ownership of the company’s accounting operations.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Construction Controller within a commercial construction environment and must have hands-on experience with Foundation Software.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations for the company
• Manage construction accounting functions including WIP, job costing, A/R, A/P, billing, payroll, and general ledger
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, financial reports, and project-level financial information
• Monitor project financial performance, budgets, costs, and profitability
• Manage and review WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Partner with Project Managers and leadership to ensure accurate project financial reporting
• Oversee cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and collections
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
• Utilize Foundation Software to manage and analyze construction accounting information
• Support leadership with financial analysis and reporting to help guide business decisions
• Manage and/or mentor accounting staff as needed
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and overall financial controls

Job Requirements

• Previous experience as a Construction Controller is required
• Hands-on experience with Foundation Software is required
• Commercial construction accounting experience with a General Contractor
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, and construction financial reporting
• Experience overseeing A/R, A/P, payroll, billing, and general ledger functions
• Strong understanding of construction project financials and the relationship between accounting and operations
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both accounting and operations teams
• Leadership experience within a construction accounting environment is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered
