Position: Senior Civil Litigation Defense Attorney
Location: Oakland, CA (Hybrid)
Compensation: Up to $250,000 / year (commensurate with experience)
About the Opportunity
An established litigation practice is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Defense Attorney with 8 to 10 years of practice to join its team in Oakland, CA. This role offers a diverse, high-level defense practice, flexibility through a hybrid work setup, and competitive compensation.
Key Responsibilities
Independently manage a robust litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including trial preparation and dispute resolution.
Handle a diverse litigation practice, including insurance defense, employment defense, business litigation, and toxic tort claims.
Conduct and defend depositions of key witnesses, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses.
Draft substantive pleadings, dispositive motions, legal briefs, and complex discovery.
Represent clients directly in court appearances, oral arguments, settlement negotiations, and mediations.
Meet an annual requirement of 1,950 billable hours while delivering top-tier legal representation.
Qualifications & Requirements
Licensure: Active license in good standing with the State Bar of California (required).
Experience: 8 to 10 years of dedicated civil litigation defense experience.
Practice Areas: Proven background across insurance defense, employment law, business litigation, or toxic tort defense.
Skills: Exceptional legal research, writing, oral advocacy, and strategic case management capabilities.
