A well-established Seattle law firm is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join its litigation practice. This opportunity is designed for an attorney who wants meaningful responsibility, substantive case involvement, and regular interaction with clients and other members of the litigation team.
The attorney will handle a variety of civil litigation matters and will have the opportunity to take an active role in case strategy, motion practice, discovery, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
Manage civil litigation matters through various stages of the litigation process
Communicate directly with clients and assist in developing practical litigation strategies
Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and evidence
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, settlement documents, and legal correspondence
Handle written discovery and participate in discovery-related matters
Take and defend depositions
Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, and other court proceedings
Present oral arguments on motions and other contested matters
Assist with trial preparation and participate in trials as appropriate
Evaluate cases and provide clients with thoughtful advice regarding litigation strategy and potential resolution
Work collaboratively with attorneys and legal professionals while managing assigned responsibilities independently
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in Washington State
3–5 years of civil litigation experience
Strong motion practice experience
Demonstrated ability to manage litigation matters with increasing independence
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Experience handling depositions and discovery
Courtroom and hearing experience preferred
Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance

This position offers an attorney with 3–5 years of litigation experience the opportunity to take on substantive matters, work directly with clients, and continue developing courtroom, motion practice, and case-management experience in a collaborative environment.
The position may be a strong fit for attorneys with backgrounds in employment, business, contract, tort, personal injury, or other civil litigation practices.
