Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support estimating and bidding efforts for heavy civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background estimating roadway, sitework, utilities, earthwork, and other heavy civil projects. Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates and competitive bids for heavy civil projects
- Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop material, labor, and equipment costs
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Develop detailed bid proposals and estimate breakdowns
- Work closely with project managers, operations, and field teams
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, and potential cost issues
- Assist with bid strategy and preconstruction activities
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and databases
Qualifications
- 3+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience
- Experience with roadway, sitework, utilities, earthwork, concrete, paving, or DOT projects
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, labor, equipment, and material costs
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Experience with estimating software; HCSS HeavyBid is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines
