About the Opportunity

A leading engineering and construction organization is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join its growing team in the Indianapolis area. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial, industrial, healthcare, institutional, and mission-critical projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary design and construction professionals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire protection system design, code compliance, and life safety engineering with a minimum of three years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop fire protection systems including fire sprinkler, fire alarm, special hazards, and life safety systems.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and system analysis.
  • Prepare design drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Review project requirements, codes, and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Conduct site surveys and perform field evaluations as necessary.
  • Support permitting, plan review, and AHJ coordination efforts.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout project execution.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and client discussions.

QualificationsRequired

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of fire protection engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
  • Experience designing fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with hydraulic calculation software.
  • NICET certification.
  • Healthcare, industrial, data center, manufacturing, or large commercial project experience.
  • Familiarity with performance-based fire protection design.
