Chief Controller

A methodically growing bank group confidentially seeks a proven VP of Finance/controller who wants to move into a Chief Controller role. This community-regional financial entity has a specific and defined mission: To be the premier choice for all financial needs in each of the communities that they serve.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pulling and reporting daily, weekly, monthly, financial records to the CFO, CEO, company, and stakeholders with complete accuracy and honesty. This Controller will report directly to the CEO who is very finance savvy. A collaborative style of communicating well with all support staff and peers is essential.

Clear direction, supported by reports regarding the effectiveness of current operations and ability to develop the bank group's future capitally, and the ability to clearly communicate that to bankers and board members are also essential skills for this position.

This Controller or Senior Accountant to Controller role is strategic and is performed in the office. Daily in-office presence is paramount to this role. However, this bank is open to relocating people with the right skillset to join the team. I have been in this bank and met a lot of the people in person. The team is welcoming, busy, and you won't be bored. Maybe not stressed out like in an insatiable banking model.

Requirements:

  • CPA or MPA desired but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, accounting, or related field required
  • 5-10 years of progressive banking or accounting experience
  • Documentation of past projects and successes 

Basic duties and job progression: 

  • Call report preparation and submission

  • General Ledger
  • Internal and external audits involvement
  • AP AR oversite
  • General ledger oversight including balancing of non-loan and deposit accounts.
  • Interest rate sensitivity analysis and reporting
  • Liquidity risk analysis and reporting
  • Budget creation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Vendor management and reporting
  • Contract review and management
  • Business continuity organization, training, and reporting
