Project Manager — Cold Storage & Food Processing Construction
Location: Chicago, IL
Compensation: $120,000–$160,000 annually, depending on experience
About the Opportunity
An established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a background in cold storage, food processing, or food and beverage construction.
This opportunity is ideal for a project manager who understands the technical demands of temperature-controlled and production facilities and can coordinate project delivery from preconstruction through closeout. Candidates should be local to Chicago or have strong ties to the area, along with established client relationships.
Responsibilities
Manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, procurement, and financial reporting.
Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and clients.
Review construction documents and identify scope gaps and constructability concerns.
Coordinate refrigeration, insulated building envelope, MEP, and production-related construction scopes.
Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, billing, and project documentation.
Monitor field progress and resolve issues affecting cost, quality, or schedule.
Support phased work and coordination with facility operations when applicable.
Maintain client relationships and support repeat business.
Lead project meetings and oversee closeout and turnover.
Qualifications
Demonstrated project management experience in cold storage, food processing, or food and beverage construction.
Strong understanding of commercial construction delivery and specialized facility systems.
Experience managing project finances, subcontractors, and schedules.
Local Chicago presence or meaningful ties to the Chicago market.
Established client relationships and some client following.
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
